It's a huge thing to forget
If God is for us, who (what) can be against us? Hebrews 13:6
While I was thinking through this, I'm pretty sure I need to come up with a way that shows that God is for us. His plans are perfect. He wants to bring good out of everything in our lives (good to God equals godliness). HOWEVER...we forget that so easily. SO EASILY!! We are distracted by the tiniest things...or maybe it's just me.
If we really took "God is for us" and "We are more than conquerors" and "This world is temporary...our lives even more so" and held that up to every trial, every annoyance, every issue that comes up (big and little) I think we would be able to be satisfied and content in all situations.
Matthew Henry (I have a crush on him) says that this passage can mean...God is for us as in all of God is made available to us...His power...His strength...His perspective...His resources...that's cool.
So...what is something we could use where someone keeps going through all this junk...or reacting wrong...or thinking wrong all because they FORGOT some HUGE thing.
I want to have one person on the stage talking about forgetting that God is for us is like...then have short little blitzes where two people walk out and act out something very insane and funny that impacts their lives in HUGE ways because they FORGOT something.
Like...
Starving, living on the streets all because you FORGOT you were a millionaire.
Drinking food out of a straw, staying in bed, taking chemo because you FORGOT you aren't sick anymore.
Living like a person stranded on a deserted island because you FORGOT you were rescued.
Help.

How about a student who crams for a final all night long only to show up and realize that he FORGOT that he'ld already taken it.
Or a mom who freaks out that her kids are missing, calls the cops and has the whole nieghbor looking for them because she FORGOT that she sent them to grandma's for the weekend.

i don't know if you and aaron saw talladega nights (the legend of ricky bobby) but it was pretty much the funniest thing ever.
if i was a preacher i would do a whole sermon series where every week i showed a clip from that film. it had a lot of good stuff to say.
this idea reminded me of a clip from that movie.
after the emotional trauma of a horrible wreck...nascar driver ricky bobby is hospitalized. he has convinced himself that he is paralyzed (he even plays wheelchair basketball) but it is all in his head.
his friends try to break the news to him that he can walk...
a yelling match ensues culminating in ricky bobby stabbing himself in the leg with a knife...
at which point he realizes (in one of the funniest scenes i've ever watched) that he is not, in fact, paralyzed.
somehow getting booked to lead worship at big conferences and forgetting that you don't know how to sing... and you don't a musical instrument.
or
offering to spot the world's second strongest man on his 500 lb benchpress attempt, and forgetting that you can only lift 95 lbs.
I don't know how do-able it would be, but it would be funny to have the narrator say something like ...
"It'd be like Arnold Schwarzenegar forgetting that he was ... well ... Arnold Schwarzenegar"
And then have someone (allen or charlie) come out with pillows all stuffed in our shirt and then be scared of some little skinny guy (me)
you could have someone trying to eat something or open something with just their mouth because the FORGOT they had arms/hands
or
someone could be crawling on the stage because he FORGOT that he had legs
I love the talladega nights idea.
You guys rock. I just finished the script. Aaron declared it "so funny". We're on.
These examples are so hilarious...I think people will be rolling...BUT...pray they get how silly it is of us when we forget this HUGE truth in our lives...ESPECIALLY when forgetting that truth causes us to live life crippled (in bitterness, rebellion, unbelief, unforgiveness). I believe that lives can be changed...our lives can be changed...if we would get that God is for us. God's WORD is FOR US. It's good...He's good.
God is for us! Don't forget.
This is probably a silly question, because I'm sure you've already thought of it and are in the process of producing it, but will there soon be a Living Hope Media blog complete with videos of each weeks skits as well as a monthly video journal featuring Aaron from Aaron and the Bombastics?
